Appendices
This page contains links to the differing industrial classification
schemes recorded in the IPUMS. Each census used its own unique scheme,
which was generally recorded in the sample for that year (industry was
first recorded in 1910; the 1920 sample coded industries directly into
the 1950 system). The industry codes listed in the following pages correspond
to the IND
variable in the IPUMS. In addition, the IPUMS codes all census years into
the 1950 classification scheme, recording them in the variable IND1950.
