Description
DATANUM identifies the particular sample from which the case is drawn for a given country-year. Its purpose is to distinguish among samples when more than one is available for a particular country and year.
At this time IPUMS-International contains only one sample per country-year. The U.S. 1970-1990 samples are the only ones to have values other than "1". These values correspond to the DATANUM codes assigned in the IPUMS-USA database. Currently, IPUMS-International contains the 1970 Form 2 Metro Sample, the 1980 1% Metro sample, and the 1990 1% Metro sample.
