The Department of History, the Minnesota Population Center, and the Early American istory Workshop invites you to join us for a symposium on May 10 in honor of Rus Menard's retirement.
Several of Rus's former students and collaborators will be in town to share some of their recent work.
The symposium will be held in the History Department Seminar Room
(1210 Heller Hall) from 1:00 to 5:00.
Gifts in honor of Rus Menard are requested to the Early American History Workshop Fund.
April 26th, 2012New Film and Dialogue Series Launches in Twin Cities
Designed for interfaith communities as well as college campuses, "IZUN/MIZAN: A Film and Dialogue Series" (*"Balance" in Hebrew & Arabic) will feature award-winning films that portray the complexity of the Israeli/Palestinian conundrum, followed by an in-depth, respectful dialogue guided by trained facilitators about the issues raised in the film and the conflict itself.
Sponsored by the University of Minnesota's Departments of History, German, Scandinavian and Dutch, Gender and Women's Studies and housed under the Center for Jewish Studies, Izun/Mizan will feature the film above plus two others on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
Events are free of charge but donations will gladly be accepted at the door.
Dinner will be provided at the University of Minnesota Series.
There will also be a series planned at Macalester College later this Spring.
