How should I choose a topic?
Choosing a topic involves some practical considerations and a lot of intellectual rigor. You should certainly think about what primary sources are available. But, you'll also want to think about what question will drive your work.
This is slightly different from simply a topic. A topic is an area of interest, but a question is what it is that you want to know about that area of interest. To identify useful primary sources and to conduct useful research, you need to be asking a question.
