Professional Resources

We run a series of professional development activities called "How Things Work." In 2003-04, these included workshops on "Publishing in History Journals," "Dissertation to Book," and "Dissertation Funding."

Future workshops will focus on writing effective grant proposals, and teaching for the first time. The workshops are organized by faculty and graduate student members of the Graduate Studies Committee. Each fall we run a TA workshop for all history TAs. There are also professional development activities organized periodically for history ABDs in connection with placement and instructorships.
