The Comparative Women's History
Workshop
The Value of Comparison
Annual Themes
Each year the Workshop organizers choose a semester-long or year-long theme to
highlight the overlapping interests of scholars on campus. While the theme
is not strictly enforced, it does give direction to the Workshop and allows insights
to build from paper to paper. The thematic focus adds to the comparative
function of the workshop by identifying shared directions in research and encouraging
participants to think about how the theme might be applied in their own work.
Themes from past years have included Women and
Space, Women's Life Course, and Women and Travel.
