The mission of the Compartive Women's History
Workshop is to enable historians working in various cultures to engage
in comparative discussion. It is a community of scholars with diverse
expertise, so the conversations that occur among the participants have
a breadth that includes depth. The workshop thus provides a forum
for discussions not only of specific papers but an indepth analysis of
comparison itself and the overlapping issues that are important to historians
who study gender and women in any period.
